If you work in a corporate environment, then most likely you already have some anti-spam filter set up on your Exchange server that helps your company to opt out of junk mail. However, you can considerably reduce the number of spam in your inbox by automatically dispatching most of unwanted emails into the junk folder and in this way turn a roaring junk steam into a tiny brook that one can comfortably live with. As a result, it is impossible to completely stop the delivery of junk messages. That is why, unluckily for all of us, they did not devise any mechanism that would ensure 100% protection against unsolicited e-mail. ![]() The email protocol was invented by scientists and it could never occur to them that someone would be sending all those car insurance quotes, loans, mortgage rates, pills and diets to unknown people. The fact is that as long as junk mails has at least a tiny degree of effectiveness, say 0.0001%, spam will continue to be sent in millions and billions of copies. You will also learn how to keep your filter up to date, how to move a good message from the Junk folder and ensure that no legitimate e-mails gets there. I'll be front and center of the queue to test this one when the testing expands. This article explains how to configure Outlook Junk Mail Filter to block as many junk emails as possible. It's never too late to start dealing more effectively with the problem of spam. You might also think for old-timers like me who have had the same very public email address for more than 20 years, then maybe it's a little late to start using aliases, but think again. That will change in due course, and by keeping an eye on the Private Relay pages you will be able to sign up to the waiting list and join in "soon," according to Mozilla. In the case of Mozilla's Private Relay, it's merely that it is still in testing mode at the moment, an invite-only alpha testing mode. "We all make many online accounts, but most of them are linked to 1 or 2 of our email addresses," Mozilla said, "this means if just one account is hacked or tracked, every other account and its associated data is now also at risk." MORE FROM FORBES Revealed: The Supermarkets That Will Sell You Malware For $50 By Davey Winder So, what's the catch?Īh, yes, the catch. If a service you are using suffers a data breach and logins appear on the dark web, a would-be attacker wouldn't have your email address for use in executing a credential stuffing attack. This user interface is what makes Private Relay so simple, and so powerful: removing the alias means that no further emails will be received, all spam will be terminated from that sender and any others they might have shared your address with. Mozilla describes the Private Relay Firefox add-on as being able to generate "unique, random, anonymous email addresses that forward to your real address," and when done with you can "disable or destroy the email address." MORE FROM FORBES Downloaded Twitter Data Using Firefox? Could Hackers Have Stolen Your Data? By Davey Winder All emails sent to that new address will automatically be forwarded to your actual address. But that's not as easy to manage as the Firefox solution.īy simply clicking on a "relay" button next to the email fields, once installed, the add-on will allow an alias to be created on-demand. Gmail users, for example, might sign up with instead of as a 'dot' before the symbol doesn't change where the email ends up, but does help to identify where spam is coming from. That idea is email aliases, where you create different email addresses for services and sites that you sign up to while keeping your "real" email to yourself. ![]() Still, Mozilla is making it so easy to use that it could revolutionize the way we deal with unwanted, annoying and potentially dangerous emails. The idea behind the new add-in is undoubtedly not new. Going by the name of Private Relay, Mozilla is currently testing a new add-on for Firefox users that could put an end to unwanted emails using a single click. Mozilla's one-click killer email trick to deal with spam A new one-click email trick that is currently being tested by Mozilla could provide the solution for 250 million Firefox users. That still leaves way too many actual spam messages getting through when you do the math, and it's dealing with these that is proving difficult. Thankfully, email applications now come with anti-spam measures built-in, and the likes of Gmail, for example, reckon the machine learning algorithms that power the spam filtering for 1.5 billion Google email users are 99.9% accurate. They did, however, require a period of training whereby the recipient would have to categorize email as being spam or not manually. Dedicated spam filtering solutions using a combination of sender reputation scoring and keywords soon emerged and proved more effective.

![]() I think the preview photos speak for themselves, but little skin details – like the eyebags and the veins – can make a Vampire look that much closer to undeath. I suggest turning on the bb.moveobjects cheat before placing them down, as their footprint can interfere with some base game foundations.ĭescribed as “bits ‘n’ things” that the creator’s wanted for their Vampire Sims for a while, Pyxis’ Demon Days: Vampire Stuff is a grab-bag of small details and simple CC.Įyebags, a skin pallor overlay, skin gradients, spidery veins, horns… all of these are pretty small cosmetic things that, on the surface level, wouldn’t make much of a difference. And yes, they do give off their own light. You’ve got the standard geometrical figures, plus the pretty six-pointed star variations… and there are even two portal-like designs: one leading to the cosmos, and another one leading to the blackened pits of god-knows-where. Natalia-Auditore’s Magic Sigil CC comes in 12 different colors and designs. Nothing sets the scene quite like a perfectly symmetrical circle with symbols from a dead language coming to life right beneath your feet. I mean think about it: summoned a demon? Preparing a blood moon sacrifice? Finally unlocked the secrets to unlimited power? So I figured, sure why not?īecause there are so many occult occasions where an ominously glowing magic sigil can set the mood, you know? This one’s a pretty simple décor item, but I thought the concept was pretty cool. You can find the overlays – i.e., the Aloha! Add-On Eyes and Overlays – right here. If you’re building an occult Sim, I highly recommend this eyeset. But I will say that this CAS pack (plus its corresponding add-on pack by the same creator) helped me achieve glowing purple wraith eyes, heterochromatic milky-white werewolf eyes, and bone-chillingly-black Spider-Woman eyes. There’s quite a bit to unpack, so I can’t list them all down here. Or, at the very least, aesthetically pleasing.īasically, the Aloha! eyeset lets you play around with sclera and iris colors. They have a way of warping features and injecting terror-creature elements into their CC in a way that’s almost… cute. I’m sure there are plenty of other eyesets that are even more extensive (ones by PralineSims come to mind), but Pyxis is pretty well-known for their monster/beast/fantasy/occult-Sims CC. This eyeset by Pyxis is one of the best and most extensive ones I’ve found for creating otherworldly eyes. So these aren’t specifically supernatural or occult-themed per se, but I thought I would include this as it helped me build some cool-looking, not-of-this-earth beasties. Without the eyes, the skin details make it look like there are genuinely multiple tiny eye sockets on your Sim’s forehead. On the other hand, these Arachnophobia – Accessory Spider Eyes by Pyxis worked almost too well.Īside from the actual spider eyes that sit on your Sim’s forehead, the creator included skin details like pale veins, warped discoloration, and shadows to indicate bulging and indents. Could be just a difference in textures (the good ol’ Maxis Match versus Alpha CC debate) or something, but they really didn’t translate well in CAS or in-game. ![]() Other custom monster eye accessories looked either too flat or too bug-eyed. I found a couple other “third eye” or “insect eyes” CC while I was digging for cool occult/supernatural stuff, but this piece stood out. Want to make your Arachne!Sim more Spider then Woman? These creepy (but excellent) spider-eyes accessory are by a different creator (Pyxis!), but damn do they complete the look. (Hence the “Possible Fix” in the title).Īrachnophobia – Accessory Spider Eyes by Pyxis I decided to decorate it with the objects from tinywardens’ Witchy Décor Set and it looked excellent.įun fact: the only reason this cabinet has 80 slots is because the creator had to cut back on the original 250+ slots (yep) since it was causing some people in-game errors. It’s meant to be an apothecary cabinet, but you can honestly just use it as any regular multi-slotted organizational/display cabinet.īut given the theme of this article, it would look really cool with glass bottles, unidentified herbs, suspicious-looking mushrooms, and softly-glowing rocks. So you can imagine how ecstatic I was when I tried it out and it worked perfectly. Not even the unnecessarily huge bookcases have half of those free slots, even though it would make perfect sense for them to. ![]() Name a base game cabinet, display case, or shelving unit that comes close. Let me tell you now: it’s got 80 working décor slots. This here custom cabinet by CC maker bramblefinch is the mother of all storage solutions. Just don’t expect this to protect you from anything more than the most casual of attacks. But if you can’t use them for some reason - or just want something different - then installing Eusing Maze Lock gives you a pattern password alternative. Regular passwords remain the safest option, then. And Eusing Maze Lock’s own documentation points out that, if you forget the swipe pattern, and you’ve set up the system to launch when Windows starts, booting into Safe Mode will be enough to get around it. The program is just a regular application, and not tied into Windows regular authentication systems in any way. What you’re not getting here is any kind of hacker-proof security. The timings are a little tight - if you pause when drawing your pattern, even for a fraction of a second, then Maze Lock registers only the first swipe and you have to try again - but once you understand how it works this isn’t a problem. This all worked reasonably well in our tests. Once it’s set up, the program locks your system automatically after its defined timeout, or you can trigger it manually with a hotkey, or by left-clicking Maze Lock’s system tray icon. How long should your PC be idle be idle before it kicks in, for instance? Should it launch when your PC boots? Would you like to disable your internet connection at the same time, maybe lock the keyboard? How many incorrect attempts at the pattern will you allow? And what should happen if someone still can’t get it right? (By default Eusing Maze Lock plays a loud alarm which can’t be turned off, closing the system down a minute later.) Instead of typing a password you can use a 9, 16 or 25 point pattern that you. You also get a great deal of control over how the new lock screen works. Eusing Maze Lock lock your desktop with a pattern Eusing Maze Lock enables you to lock access to your desktop by using customizable lock screen with a patterns based protection method. Dynamic password mode:And here you will have enter the random alphabet replacing your defined pattern line i.e you don't need to drag. There’s only so much you can do with a 3×3 grid, of course, but there are 4×4 and 5×5 options if you’d like to get more creative. Secure mode:Yes here is a bit tricky cause you have to be conscious of your defined pattern line you are draging, why because it is invisible. You will see the pattern line as you drag to unlock.
